Need Help 4 Months ago
Hi,

I am gonna have 3 days trip with my wife to Thailand. This is our first trip. I am wondering which city is good option for the first time visitors. With 3 days, i can not plan for going form here to there.

Is there anybody out has any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Jason,

3 days is a rather short visit indeed, if you fancy excitement and city life you should of course stay in Bangkok.

However if you want to take it a bit more easy just try Chiang Mai, the second largest city located in the North. Here you will find a more laid back city life with plenty of opportunities to visit the surrounding area's for trekking, biking or hiking.

I would not recommend you to go to either Phuket, Samui or Pattaya as these are tourist centers.

Anything else you would like to know?

Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

True.It is very short. This will be our first visit but definitely, not last one ( if something bad not strike us)

Couple of question.

1. Why you are not recommending those places? Because duration of our stay?

2. We will reach there Friday morning and will leave there on Sunday late night. I am thinking of getting this tour for our Saturday (http://www.bangkok.com/river-cruise-tours/grandpearl.html) what is your idea? Good? Bad? Cheap? Expensive? Boring?

3. What else do you recommend to do in Bangkok? I dont want to just come there and hang out in bars every night. Because i can do it here and anywhere else. Some safari shows? night shows? anything interesting?

4.Is this a informative website? Or you procide services too?

Thanks

Hi Jason,

To answer your questions:

1: These places are very touristic, unless you would like to see more foreigners then Thai people I (personally) would not go there.

2: The tour you are planning to take is a nice tour itself but if by any means you can afford it book a private tour. The tour on the website you refer to is shared with other people (and will most likely involve a compulsory shopping stop). But is is definitely a good idea to do a short cruise and see Ayutthaya, good pick!

3: There are plenty of options you could choose from in Bangkok, as you said you dont want to hang out in bars avoid the the "Patpong" and "Nana" districts.
At night you could start with a visit to the Suan Lum Night Bazaar near Lumpini for outdoor eating in the beer garden en perhaps some shopping (nice little small shops, go in the back to get the best deals).
Bangkok is of course famous for it's ladyboys so why not visit a ladyboy show? There is one at Mambo (Sukhumvit soi 22).
If you like something more cultural you should see the Siam Niramit Show which is the best in Thailand.

4: For now we are just an informative website and we don't offer any services ourselves (yet).
You are however encouraged to make hotel bookings through our website (as we get a small commission) but thats up to you.

Good luck and anything else you need to know feel free to ask.

Cheers
