If you prefer a more quiet setting Koh Tao is the place to go. This is the smallest island (compared to Samui and Phangan) and has beautiful beaches and offers excellent diving and snorkling locations. It is often referred to as the "turtle island" because of its shape somewhat resembling a turtle.

No big parties here, just nice and relaxing to get over your full moon party. From Koh Tao you can also take a ferry up to the mainland and go back to Bangkok so there is no need to go back to Samui first. Koh Tao is also a great place to go diving and get your Padi diving license. Diving can be done year round except in October/November/December when the weather can be bad sometimes.
Getting there:
Arriving by boat is the only option you have. This can be done in the same way as going to Phangan or Samui by taking a ferry from Surat Thani but be prepared for a 3 hour boat ride.
Coming from Bangkok it is faster to take the ferry from Chumpon but please check the kind of ferry you are taking as traveling times vary from 90 minutes to 5 hours.
