Koh Samui
Koh Samui is located in the Gulf of Thailand and has 2 neighbours; Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Koh Samui is the biggest of the three islands and offers everything for a perfect holiday. Chaweng Beach is the busiest beach on the Island and offers the best nightlife places. Other beaches are more quiet but just as nice.

Rooms on Samui can be booked here.

How to get there
From Bangkok you can go by either train, bus or plane. When you go by train or bus you have to take a ferry to get to the island. The tickets go for 1500 bath return all inclusive. For the train you can go to Hua Lompong train station at the end of the MRT line. For bus tickets many people go to Khoa Sarn Road for a cheap ticket, my experience is however that it is better to go to the Ekamai bus station and buy your ticket there. This option is considerably more fun (travel amongst Thai people) than traveling with screaming foreiners.

Plane tickets can be bought online at Bangkok Airways: www.bangkokair.com Tickets are cheap and the trip takes only 1 hour instead of at least 10 by boat or train. However, traveling by train is more fun since you have your own bed in the train and most importantly: There is a bar in the train!!! Make sure that after you get on the train you immediately look for the bar as spaces are limited, once you're in enjoy the drinks and the crazy waiters.

Once you get there
Once you get of your boat or plane you will be greeted by a handful of Thais offering you taxi rides and accommodation. Don't be fooled though, this is not charity and there are often better places than they offer you. Oh and NO not all the other places are full as the driver wants you to believe. A nice room for two can be found for under 900 bath so don't pay too much. Personally I have experience with The Green Guesthouse on Chaweng Beach where the rooms are simple but clean and go for around 700 bath (double bed).
Get yourself a nice dinner on the beach with great BBQ and fireshows.

Party places:
Lots of bars on Samui, the most fun ones can be found in the central part, a little bit further from the Pizza Hut (when it's on your left hand) go into the little soi on the right and check out the bars there, large open bars. Careful here since the working girls are attracted by the tourists. This place closes at 1 but just follow the crowd to a place where you can chill out (outdoors) or just get your own bottle of Sangsom and get drunk on the beach.

During the daytime:
Since Samui is a big island there are more things you can do besides sleeping on the beach. Snorkeling and fishing can be arranged at your local guesthouse but the most fun is to rent a jeep or motorbike and drive around the island. It takes you about 1,5 hours to get around and on the way there are lots of things to do. For example: See a cobra show performed by a guy who already lost a couple of fingers. Go paint balling or real shooting at the shooting range. If you like tennis there is a new tennis court in the south of the island owned by some Danish people where you can rent a court including rackets and balls. Elephant tracking and a temple are also possibilities. There is also Thai Boxing in the evening but if you have the opportunity to go to the Thai boxing at Lumpini stadium in Bangkok I recommend you to go there since the fights are much better.
