Koh Samet
With a bus ride of only three hours Koh Samet is the closest island to Bangkok. Book a ticket at Ekemai bus station that includes a ferry to get to the island.
Rooms can be booked here. Samet is a nice island as it is not yet overcrowded by tourists, lots of Thai people go here for the weekend or holidays. Again different beaches to choose from, Ao Vong Duan is the most popular and thus crowded beach in the east of the island. Koh Samet is a national park so the government regulates the the tourism industry, therefore you have to pay a 200 Baht entrance fee when you arrive on the island (the Thais pay only 40 bath).

Parties can be found on White Sand Beach, Ao Pai and Silversand Beach where most young people reside here during their stay.

Be aware that they're overcrowding boats again, they easily stuff 100 people into a boat that is made for 40 people. If this happens to you be wise and refuse to enter the boat and wait for the next one or get yourself a speed boat for 1000 bath.
