Island in the east of Thailand in Trat province, this is the second largest island after Phuket and is part of a larger marine national park..

The size is probably the only similarity between the two since Koh Chang is far less crowded than Phuket. Though there is a lot of tourism it has not developed as much and this you notice by friendly prices. Staying here is cheap and the beaches are just as breathtaking as on the other islands. By bus it takes you about 8 hours to get there, tickets at the Ekemai station again but you can also choose to get them at in a travel agency but you have to sit in a bus with only tourists since Thai people are often not allowed on these busses. The area is sometimes rated as a small risk for malaria, although chances are small I recommend you to at least use anti-musquito products containing Deet, the morer the better but your skin might not agree with this. Malaria on Koh Chang is not common but possible so always check with your health agencies for the latest status reports.
Koh Kut: Koh Kut is a just of the east of Koh Chang but much more peaceful, to get there you have to take a one hour speedboat trip and most resorts only sell packages for a couple of nights including snorkling or other trips. This island is suitable for people who want to relax without masses of people around. Packages go from 3000 Baht including tours and meals.
